PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a good tangential type centerless grinding machine capable of achieving both high productivity and high machining precision at low cost regardless of the grinding shape of an outer peripheral surface of a work. SOLUTION: The centerless grinding machine 1 comprises a rotary grinding wheel 3, an adjustment wheel 9 for forming a grinding gap 7 for grinding an outer peripheral surface of the work 5 between a work 5 and an outer peripheral surface 3a of the rotary grinding wheel 3; and a work feeding means 11 for feeding the work 5 to the grinding gap 7 along an almost tangential direction between the outer peripheral surface of the work 5 and the outer peripheral surface 3a of the rotary grinding wheel 3. By this structure, the outer peripheral surface of the work 5 is ground into a predetermined shape. At an outer peripheral surface of the adjustment wheel 9, a work supporting groove 51 the cross- sectional shape of which matches the grinding shape of the outer peripheral surface of the work 5 is formed.
