842,645. Seaming non-metallic sheet material. BRITISH VISQUEEN Ltd. Jan. 8, 1958 [Feb. 4, 1957], No. 3745/57. Class 42 (1). Bags comprising one face of paper and one face of polythene film are formed by continuously extruding an adhesive material upon a surface by a movable nozzle which moves along a predetermined path which crosses at least a part of the width of the sheet to place adhesive at the longitudinal edges and transversely of the web. As shown, adhesive is applied in a zone 12 to a roll 11 of polythene. A roll of paper 13 which is narrower than the film is brought against the surface of the film by a roller 14. The film and paper layers then pass to an edge turnover mechanism 15. The combined sheets then pass between nip rolls 16 and then to a guillotine. |
