PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control a scattering direction of ink or the like caused by the engagement between a blade and a cleaner for cleaning the blade in an ink jet recorder, particularly control a scattering direction so that scattering ink or the like is prevented from adhering to apparatus elements not desired to be stained with the scattering ink or the like. SOLUTION: After wiping of a recording head by the blade 81, when ink drops or the like adhering to the blade 81 by the movement of the blade 81 are to be removed through the engagement of the cleaner 83 with the blade 81, an engagement relation between the blade 81 and the cleaner 83 is set so that an encoder film 123 is positioned to be upper than a tangent of points where the engagement is resolved on a curve as a locus when a leading end of the blade 81 rotates by the engagement. The ink or the like scattering from the blade by the engagement resolution can be prevented from adhering to the encoder film 123. |
