摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for regenerating a cation exchange resin in which a compact structure is achieved using a natural phenomenon, a predetermined amount of saline water having a predetermined concentration is supplied, and consolidation in a salt tank is prevented, and a water softener. SOLUTION: In the method for regenerating a cation exchange resin, a predetermined amount of saline water having a predetermined concentration, which is to be supplied to the cation exchange resin, is produced by a combination of a dissolving step of producing a predetermined amount of high concentration saline water and a pouring step of diluting the high concentration saline water to supply a predetermined amount of saline water having a predetermined concentration, and one regeneration process is carried out in the pouring step and the dissolving step in this order. The salt tank 6 of the water softener in which saline water therein naturally flows down to a water softening tank comprises a basket 15 for storing salt and an outlet member 13 placed on the bottom of the salt tank and erected above the bottom of the basket, wherein a cap unit 17 located at an appropriate distance from the outlet member and covering the upper part and the periphery of the outlet member is erected from the bottom of the basket.
