PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an amount of preliminary discharge ink for preventing color mixing by preventing an ink mist at a preliminary discharge time and preventing a clog of discharge openings because of mixing and fixing of ink in the discharge openings and on discharge opening faces at a suction recovery operation or a preliminary discharge operation even when a discharge opening array of a plurality of different ink colors is arranged to the same discharge opening face, and an invasion of mixed and fixed ink into discharge openings. SOLUTION: Immediately after the discharge opening face 12 is cleaned by a wiper 21 subsequent to a suction recovery process, a cap 22 is moved to the vicinity of the discharge opening face (distance of 2±1 mm), and ink is preliminarily discharged towards the cap at the position. |
