PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water modifying apparatus (a bath water modifying apparatus A) in which required modifying capacity is attained in a short time after the operation is started. SOLUTION: The bath water modifying apparatus A (the water modifying apparatus) is provided with an electrolytic cell connected to a bath tub through pipe lines 11, 12 and filled with bath water 10, a magnesium made 1st electrode 2-2nd electrode 3 arranged in the electrolytic cell 1 to be opposed to each other, intermediate electrodes 41-44 arranged between the 1st electrode 2 and the 2nd electrode 3 and a voltage applying means 8 for alternately switching a 1st energizing mode in which a non-conductor coating film removing operation is carried out by applying AC voltage between the 1st electrode 2 and the 2nd electrode 3 until a prescribed time (e.g. 3 min) elapses after the operation is started and after the prescribed time has elapsed, positive voltage is applied to the 1st electrode 2 and negative voltage is applied to the 2nd electrode 3 and a 2nd energizing mode in which negative voltage is to the 1st electrode 2 and positive voltage is applied to the 2nd electrode 3.
