PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst whose catalytic components are suppressed from sintering and which is capable of keeping high catalytic capability stably with the lapse of time. SOLUTION: The catalyst comprises the first catalyst composed of a carrier and Pt deposited on the carrier and the second catalyst composed of a carrier and Rh deposited on the carrier and is characterized in that Au is further deposited on at least either one of the first catalyst and the second catalyst. Another embodiment of the catalyst is characterized in that alloy particles in which Pt, Rh, and Au coexist are deposited on a carrier. The mole ratio Pt/Au is preferably (200/1) to (1/1) and the mole ratio Rh/Au is preferably (200/1) to (1/1). |
