PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a temporary storing device for articles allowing different sizes of articles to stagnate at stages despite its simple constitution. SOLUTION: The temporary storing device for articles is equipped with an outer frame 2, a transporting means 3 to transport articles into or out of the outer frame 2, transfer racks 4 provided at a plurality of stages capable of transferring the article onto or off from the transporting means 3 when they pass through between the means and the outer frame 2, and an elevating/ sinking means 5 to elevate or sink the transfer racks 4 at certain intervals, wherein the transporting means 3 is furnished with conveyors 3a in a plurality of rows installed parallel to the article transporting direction, while each rack 4 is furnished with a peripheral frame to pass through between any conveyor 3a and the outer frame and an inner frame passing through between the conveyors 3a.
