Powder composition for filtering edible liquids comprises at least 75 wt.% alumina with a BET surface area of at least 135 m<2>/g and up to 25 wt.% of at least one other filter material. An Independent claim is also included for a process for filtering edible liquids using a composition as above in an installation comprising filtration supports.
