1340487 Suspended platform scaffolding R REED 22 Dec 1970 [22 Dec 1969] 62257/69 Heading E1S A suspended platform rig for attaching to the surface of an upstanding structure, e.g. a ship's hull, comprises a first pair of vertically spaced brackets 12, 13 releasably attached to the surface 11, with a first pair of parallel spaced elongate flexible elements 16, 17 extending therebetween and attached thereto, and second pairs of similar brackets and flexible elements (not shown) generally parallel to and spaced laterally from the first, and one or more platforms 20, 21, 22 extending between the flexible elements with each platform attached at or adjacent each corner to the adjacent one of the four flexible elements. The flexible elements 16, 17 &c are preferably steel chains, and the platforms may be flexibly connected thereto by short lengths of chain, each of which passes through an aperture adjacent a corner of a platform and is clamped at its ends to the respective main chain 16 &c, (Fig. 6, not shown). The platforms 20, &c are telescopic to allow variations in the lateral spacing of the two pairs of chains 16, &c. For details of the bracket 12 and its mounting see Figs. 3, 4, 5 (not shown), and of the clamping of the platform to the connecting chain and the latter to the main chain see Figs. 9, 10, 11, 12 (not shown). |
