<p>An impact protection device 10 for use by male competitors in body-contact sports comprises a rigid cup 12 , a frame member 14, resillient cushioning means that acts between the cup 12 and the frame member 14, a cup-shaped inner member 18 that is located inside the cup 12 and a cover. The cup 12 is of synthetic plastics material and defines a space sufficient to enclose the wearers genitals. Six socket formations 24 are defined on therim 22 of the cup 12. Coil springs 16 are located in the socket formations 24 with push rods 32 slideably received therein. Each push rod 32 defines a hook like formation 34 which hooks onto the frame member 14 for securing thepush rod to the frame member. The inner member 18 is of flexible cushioning material so as to provide further impact protection. The cover is in the form of a flexible leather strip that extends around theframe member 14 and the socket formations 24.</p> |
