An electronic remote level sensor has a high frequency modulated light emitting diode (LED) on one side of the gas bubble (7) and two photo sensors (S1, S2) on the other which measure the bubble position for radio transmission (12, 13) and display (14). Alternatively a pair of light sources may be used with a single sensor or a ring of lights with a single sensor in the center of an annular level tube.
