The invention relates to a refrigerating appliance comprising an inner chamber (7, 9) which is surrounded by a heat-insulating housing, and a plurality of electrical or electromechanical components, including a coolant circuit (11, 15, 16) for cooling the inner chamber (7, 9) and at least one temperature sensor (8, 10, 12), in addition to a control unit (14) for controlling the co-operation of the components (8, 10, 11, 12, 15, 16). Said control unit (14) has a test operating mode for checking the operativeness of at least some of said components (8, 10, 11, 12, 15, 16).
