PCB-containing sealant (6) is removed by releasing with a cutter, and pulling out a rope of sealant, to open-up the joint (1). A sealing profile is inserted into the opened joint, between its sides (4, 5). It is located more deeply than the PCB-containing residues from the cutting operation. An intercepter is inserted into or placed upon the joint. A water jet is used to excavate residual sealant. It leaves as a mixture with water, which is drained away. An Independent claim is also included for the interceptor employed.
