PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adaptively control an espa antenna, so that it way turn a main beam to a desired wave and besides turn null to an interference wave, without the need for giving the arrival angle of a received signal, in the control of the espa antenna. SOLUTION: An adaptive control type of controller 20, for adaptively controlling the array antenna device 100 of the espa antenna being equipped with an excitation element A0 and six nonexcitation elements A1-A6 computes and sets the reactance value xm of each variable reactance element A1-A6 for executing the adaptive control processing, based on the circulation constancy of a spectrum and turning the main beam of the array antenna device 100 in the direction of a desired wave and turning null in the direction of an interference wave, based on the received signal y(n), when having received the sturdy sequence signal contained in a radio signal transmitted from a transmitter on the opposite side, by means of the exciting element A0 of the array antenna device 100 and the sturdy sequence signal d(n) which is the same as the sturdy sequence signal and is generated with a sturdy sequence signal generator 21.
