To fire a tunnel kiln with roof burners, for ceramic construction materials, the heating is through liquid animal fat, fed into the kiln at a number of burner points. The animal fat is heated and liquefiers are added, if required. The firing is for a tunnel kiln, with an integrated exhaust gas combustion as described in EP0355569 or DE4136477-C2(15). The roof burner lances have a flushing air flow to cool their outlets, in addition to the primary combustion air feed with the fuel.
