PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a broadcast reception system which enables a user to view a video-recording reserved program even if part of a broadcast receiving device is out of order. SOLUTION: The broadcast receiving device 100 having a function of receiving and storing a broadcast on a recording medium can communicate with a backup device 300 having a function of receiving a broadcast and temporarily saving it on a file server through a communication network. The broadcast receiving device 100 when receiving an indication for program video-recording reservation from a user sends a backup request message including program information for specifying the program (P03). If an internal tuner, etc., gets out of order thereafter before the video-recording reserved program is broadcasted, the broadcast receiving device 100 sends a fault notice message to the backup device 300 (P05). The backup device 300 video-records the program specified with the program information and sends the program to the broadcast receiving device (P07) when receiving the notice of the fault.
