CERIC OXIDE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCTION THEREOF, AND CATALYST FOR EXHAUST GAS CLARIFICATION

A ceric oxide material which consists substantially of ceric oxide alone and has a specific surface area of 30.0 m2/g or more after fired at 900~C for 5 hr; a method for producing the ceric oxide material; and a catalyst for clarifying an exhaust gas using the ceric oxide material. The ceric oxide material is excellent in heat resistance and the capability of absorbing and releasing oxygen as an auxiliary catalyst material for a catalyst for clarifying an exhaust gas, and retains a relatively high specific surface ar ea in the use at a high temperature circumstance, and the capability of absorbi ng and releasing oxygen at a low temperature region even in the use at a high temperature circumstance.
