METHOD OF MANUFACTURING FOR PACKED ELECTRODE PLATE FOR LEAD-ACID BATTERY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a packed electrode plate for a lead-acid battery having a smooth surface without unevenness by preventing the thickness of the plate from varying. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the packed electrode plate for a lead-acid battery uses a pair of upper and lower roll presses incorporated in a process after a drying line where a base is packed with a paste of active material and dried. The pair of upper and lower roll presses consist of annealed and plated metallic rolls having spring-preloaded scrapers on their surfaces. Preferably, the roll press has dial gauges assembled to each end of an upper roll shaft for adjusting the interval between the rolls. The peripheral speeds of the pair of upper and lower roll presses is preferably 5 to 10% higher than the feed speed of the drying line.
