POWER CONVERTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low cost and high efficiency power converter which enables power recovery and assures excellent overload resistance. SOLUTION: This power converter comprises a diode rectifier (REC) for power with its AC terminal connected to an AC power supply via an AC reactor (Ls), a voltage type self-excitation power converter (CNV) with its AC terminal connected to the AC terminal of the diode rectifier for power via the reactor (La) for recovery current control, and a DC smoothing capacitor (Cd) which is connected between the DC common terminals of the voltage type self- excitation power converter and the diode rectifier for power to connect in parallel a load device (LOAD).
