PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power controller for a portable information terminal by which a portable information terminal becomes usable immediately after it is drawn off from a charger. SOLUTION: The secondary battery 11 of a portable bar code reader 2 is charged by the charging circuit 5 of a charger 1, when the portable reader 2 is attached to the charger 1. The charging detection circuit 6 of the charger 1 determines that the portable reader 2 has been extracted from the charger 1, when the level of a charged voltage by the charging circuit 5 rapidly lowers, and sends an extraction command signal to the portable reader 2 via a communication control circuit 7. A power control portion 12 turns a switch 13 on, since the communication circuit 10 of the portable reader 2 outputs an interruption signal to the control portion 12, when the communication circuit 10 receives the extraction command. Consequently, power supply from the secondary battery 11 becomes effective, and the portable reader 2 is started, even if a power switch 14 is in an off-state. |
