PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery suited for the discharge of large currents over a long period with excellent cycle characteristic by achieving an electrode roll of a structure having low impedance and resisting distortion even if charges and discharges are repeated. SOLUTION: In the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, the electrode roll obtained by winding a positive electrode 1, a negative electrode 2, and a separator or a polymer electrolyte into an approximately cylindrical elongate shape is contained in a jacket 4 made of a metallic can. Leads 1c and 2c for electrical connections are attached to the respective innermost peripheries of the positive and negative electrodes, with the lead 2c of the negative electrode made of a material containing at least copper or a copper alloy as a component element. The outermost periphery of the positive or negative electrode is electrically contacted with the jacket to constitute the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery. Preferably, an aluminum can is used as the jacket to electrically contact the outermost periphery of the positive electrode with the jacket. |
