PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a facsimile machine designed to effectively utilize a memory and to effectively utilize the time. SOLUTION: Evaluation of fax transmission and reception is started (S202). If data transmitted from a transmitting side are normally received by a receiving side, received files are outputted (S203). If a clear/stop key is pressed down (S205/YES) while outputting the received file (S204/YES), all received and stored files are erased (S206) at the same time when transmission and reception are stopped to return to an the initial image (S207). If output of the received files is finished in S204 (S204/NO and S208), a return is taken to the initial image (S207), if the clear/stop key is not pressed down in S205 (S205/NO), the files are continuously outputted (S204). When the clear/stop key is pressed down, a user can freely select whether or not to erase the received and stored files.
