The remote control has a sensor field with several buttons. The field is divided into several touch sensitive operating fields. A liquid crystal display displays the operation of the sensor field with a drive element for displaying the control conditions. A current supply element is provided. A microprocessor controls the operation of the various components. An erasable, non-volatile memory stores remote control codes and control commands. The device also has an infra red transmitter-receiver element and a carrier transmitter- receiver element and an adder. A background lighting module and control element is also provided.
