Bit rate matching method for transmitted bit stream in communications system uses puncturing or repetition

The bit rate matching method processes the bits of the transmitted bit stream by puncturing or repetition, so that the sum of the weighting values for a given number of successive bits required for extraction of corresponding information has a defined ratio to the sum of the reliabilities of the corresponding bits for provision of the information after the bit rate adaption. An Independent claim for a communications device for transmission of a bit stream is also included.
