Circuits external to the engine, e.g. for the heater, require a precisely-defined coolant flow, independent of engine speed and actuator positions. The required precise volumetric flowrate is set by an additional electrical pump (2). This flowrate is independent of instantaneous pressures developed and applied to the circuit by the engine pump (7). An Independent claim is included for corresponding equipment.
