PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for creating digested sport video image and an apparatus for creating digest that can capture a progress of a match and decide importance of each event. SOLUTION: In the method of this invention, a function or a table to calculate the importance in cross-reference with a combination of an elapsed time of a match in a sport video image and an estimated score difference is set in advance. Then the function or the table is used to obtain the importance value on the basis of the elapsed time of the match in the sport video image at a point of time when an event takes place and the score difference at that point of time and decides the importance value of the event by using the obtained importance value. In this case, the importance value indicates a value WP denoting that a home team wins at the match on the basis of the given elapsed time (t) of the match and the given score difference 'delta' at the point of time.
