The lighter casing (2) has a switch (13) in the top which is recessed on its underside. A lever (15) beneath the switch has one end pivotally mounted inside the casing, whilst its free end supports two cylindrical protrusions which face away from each other and extend parallel to the lever linkage. The cylindrical protrusions support a forked connecting rod (14) which engages with the recess in the bottom of the switch. The lever has an embossed protrusion extending in the downwards direction on the side facing away from the switch. The lever hinge and connecting rod bearing axis extend at right angles to the direction in which the switch and igniter punch move. The embossed protrusion on the lever presses against the igniter punch.
