PURPOSE: A mask frame of a flat CRT is provided to prevent a howling phenomenon occurring at the mask and degradation of assembly quality by accurately pressing the main frame through the use of compression tips during the manufacture of the mask frame. CONSTITUTION: A mask frame(38) comprises a main frame(32) having two longer sides opposed to each other in a vertical direction, and an L-shaped cross section; and a sub frame(33) having two shorter sides in a horizontal direction, and which is welded to both ends of the main frame. The L-shaped main frame has an angle of 90 degree before compression, and 80 to 90 degree after compression using compression tips(21).
