A plasma display unit that is superior in outdoor daylight contrast and hardly cause application quantity dispersion while facilitating the application of fluorescent substance paste to a space bottom surrounded by a lattice-like partition wall rib. The lattice-like partition wall rib comprises transverse ribs consisting of two or more rows of elements formed substantially parallel along a first direction, and longitudinal ribs formed substantially parallel along a second direction different from the first direction. And, at least some of the longitudinal ribs and/or transverse ribs are formed with a notch interconnecting spaces surrounded with the longitudinal and transverse ribs along the first direction and/or the second direction.
