LOW POWER NETWORK SWITCH AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING POWER CONSUMPTION STATE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low power network switch which realizes low power consumption in a state where turned-on communication equipment is not connected to the low power network switch or where data communication is not performed for a long time and also which reduces data loss in a physical layer level by a low power consumption processing. SOLUTION: A means 1 for detecting a connection state with communication equipment does not detect a signal which indicates the connection state from the communication equipment when the external communication equipment 14 is not connected to a communication interface 12 or when the connected communication equipment is not turned on. Then a time measuring means 7 turns on a timer 1 and a mode is shifted to an N2 low power consumption shift mode.
