摘要 An invention relates to the method and equipment for automatic optical detection and classification of the type of contamination on a vehicle window surface by applying two independent reflected light fluxes from light sources being switched on alternately and positioned relative to a photo-receiver such that, after reflecting from the same area of the surface to be cleaned, one received light flux represents a sum of both the mirror-like reflected and the diffuse components thereof, whilst the other one represents only the diffuse component obtained by optical partitioning of the reflected light flux by an additional specific mask in such a way that the photo-receiver is screened from the part of the modulated light flux reflecting according the law or mirror reflection. Thus, the presence or absence of wet and dry contamination components on the same area of the surface to be cleaned can be analysed compositionally using the amplitude values of the two signals that allows to defect the presence of dirt without delay distinguishing it from snow, as well as allows to define immediately an adequate cleaning mode.
