PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile equipment and its control method that can reduce the current consumption of the entire terminal. SOLUTION: The facsimile equipment includes; a memory 104 for storing data; a secondary battery 105 for supplying power to the memory 104 on the occurrence of a power failure; a power supply 111 for supplying power to the entire facsimile equipment; a current detection circuit 205 for monitoring the current consumption of the entire facsimile equipment; a charging circuit 202 for charging the secondary battery 105; and a CPU 206 for controlling the charging circuit 202. The CPU 206 stops charging of the secondary battery 105 when the current consumption of the entire facsimile equipment monitored by the current detection circuit 205 is a prescribed current or more and the CPU 206 usually charges the secondary battery 105 when the current consumption of the entire facsimile equipment is less than the prescribed current.
