PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem of troubling a user, when installing software for allowing STB (Set Top Box) to drive AV device in STB. SOLUTION: This software transmitting/receiving system is provided with a device 6 storing first attribute information for specifying the device 6; the STB 5 having a device identification part 12 storing second attribute information for specifying the STB 5, an I/F part 13 obtaining the first attribute information, and a download control part 11 storing the software for allowing the STB 5 to derive the device 6, transmitting the first attribute information and the second attribute information to a software control part 4 and receiving the software from the software control part 4; and the software control part 4 storing the software for allowing the STB to drive the device 6, searching whether or not STB 5 stores the software, and transmitting the software to the STB 5, when determining that STB 5 does not store it.
