The pipe coupling has an annular sealing assembly (3) located on the end sections of a sliding sleeve (2) fitted in the end sections (1a,1b) of the pipes to be connected and connecting these pipes, and fills and seals the gap between the surfaces of the sliding sleeve and inner face of the pipe. Clamping sleeves (5), consisting of one part or several parts and guided on the end section on the sliding sleeve and in the end sections of the pipes, axially act upon the sealing assemblies. The ends of the clamping sleeves are interconnected between the pipes by at least one adjustable connecting element (7).
