PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To meet a need for a portable display device that dispenses with the determination of the period of reception of the display device and the freshness of topicality and the like and with active data acquisition based on a memorized data generation period, and that can automatically acquire data, in light of the fact that data of electronic publishing and the like, which are created periodically or successively, are acquired according to a data update frequency or acquired actively by a prediction of new data generation. SOLUTION: The portable display device has the attachment of a noncontact IC chip having a function of automatically transmitting information about acquired data in response to a call from a data providing station, a function of automatically acquiring data from the data providing station, and a function of actively displaying the acquired data on a display part.
