PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide streaming of network usage data with similar characteristics as those of a large capacity real time probability density distribution and Internet usage. SOLUTION: This invention provides a network usage analysis system and method (20) having a dynamic statistical data distribution system (320) and method. In one embodiment, the present invention provides a method for substantially real-time analyzing of a stream of data (324). The method includes receiving the stream of data (324). A data distribution is determined (300) representative of the stream of data, including creating data bins (306) having exponentially increasing sizes (312), and allocating a statistical representation of the data in the data bins. The data distribution (300) is used to analyze the stream of data.
