The foot pedal control (1) has a foot pedal bearing block (2) supporting a releasable pedal carrier (3), which can slide within the bearing block and a pedal (5) pivoted to the carrier via a pivot axis (4). The pivot coupling between the pedal and the carrier remains intact upon a frontal collision, with release of the clamped connection between the pedal carrier and the bearing block when a given force is exceded.
