PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide cleaning liquid and cleaning cloth which effectively removes foreign matter such as dust attached to a protective film without damaging a lubricant layer on the protective layer when a recording medium (for example, mini disk) in which a head has the sliding protective film and the lubricant layer is formed on the protective film is subjected to cleaning. SOLUTION: This cleaning liquid contains lubricant and this cleaning cloth is made by impregnating cloth consisting of synthetic fiber which is little in dust generation with the lubricant. The lubricant is preferably lubricant which can be used for the formation of the lubricant layer of a recording medium. As the lubricant, concretely, one kind or two kinds or more selected from silicone oil, higher fatty acid, higher fatty acid ester and paraffin hydrocarbon are appropriately used.
