PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce consumption of a resin material, the amount of dust and cost for manufacture and transportation in a manufacturing stage for an optical recording medium while keeping the compatibility with a DVD (R). SOLUTION: The optical recording medium consists of a thin disk like optical disk 4a and cartridges 1 and 5 formed in a disk shape and housing the optical disk 4a. The cartridges 1 and 5 have light transmission parts consisting of polycarbonate resin in the areas corresponding to a signal recording area of the optical disk 4a and 0.6 mm thickness from the surfaces thereof to a signal recording surface of the optical disk 4a.
