PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical device and method for recognizing a fingerprint and image capable of acquiring images of both of a fingerprint and a printed material by using a single optical reading part. SOLUTION: This device is provided with an optical path 53 formed of a transparent substance for contacting a read object 58, a first light source 41 arranged at a predetermined angle so that irradiated light is totally reflected on an area 57 where the read object 58 and the optical path 53 formed of the transparent substrate are in contact with each other, a second light source 42 arranged at a predetermined angle so that the irradiated light is dispersed and is not totally reflected on the area 57 where the read object 58 and the optical path 53 formed of the transparent substance are in contact with each other, and an image sensor 46 for receiving light, which is light irradiated by the first light source 41 or the second light source 42 and traveling via the read object 58, and converting into an electric signal, and further is provided with an optical reading means for optically reading an image of the read object, and a means for recognizing or decoding, and displaying the image read by the optical reading means. |
