PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing device which is provided with a recording medium capable of loading/eject and in which the recording and reproducing of the recording medium can be easily performed continuously from an operating state at the time of ejection without requiring time and labor when the recording medium ejected during recording and reproducing is loaded again, and a control method of the same. SOLUTION: An HDD unit 100 is provided with a controller 111 and when there is an eject instruction during recording and reproducing of an HDD 120, the operating state of the HDD 120 under recording and reproducing (address under recording and reproducing) is recorded on a memory 111a. Afterwards, when continuously performing recording and reproducing processing interrupted the last time, in a recording and reproducing system 1, the last operating state of the HDD 120 recorded on the memory 111a is reproduced.
