PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily makes a readout scan of pixels in an arbitrary area without cutting the image by using a buffer memory when the scan for reading image signals out of the respective pixels of an image sensor is made. SOLUTION: The image sensor is provided with a means for inputting and specifying scan start addresses of directions X and Y, a means for inputting and specifying addends, and a means for making a readout scan of pixels and pixel arrays based upon the addends as increments from the specified scan start addresses when imaging devices as pixel units are arranged in matrix and an X-Y address scanning system is employed.
