PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust the projection amount and the posture of each head chip by ensuring sufficient accuracy regarding a relative positional relation between head chips in a magnetic head having a plurality of head chips. SOLUTION: The head base 8 of a magnetic head 4 is constituted of base members 8A, 8B to which head chips 7A, 7B are attached respectively and, by using a structure where the base member 8 is mounted on the base member 8B to be combined, the position and the posture of the base member 8A are adjusted with the base member 8B as a reference to be defined. Then, a mechanism for adjusting a relative positional relation between head chips arranged by at an extremely close distance is provided in the base member 8B, and the position of the head chip 7A of the base member 8A is adjusted with respect to the head chip 7B of the base member 8B as a reference. When the head base 8 is attached to a drum, the position and the posture of the base member 8B are adjusted.
