Device (10) and method to measure the level of a liquid, for example fuel, present in a tank (11) of a vehicle used for transport or work. The method provides a calculation step, of the ratiometric type, to calculate the level of liquid, which takes place by calculating the fraction between a determined reference value associated to the liquid and supplied by detection means (20) constantly immersed in the liquid, and a value which varies according to the height measured by measuring means (12) at least partly immersed in the liquid.
