A latch for a cabinet door or drawer for preventing access to the interior of the cabinet or drawer. The latch includes a hook (14) spring biased to engage a catch (L) and that allows the door (D) or drawer to be only slightly opened enough to allow a caregiver to reach the latch and displace it out of the way so that the door (D) or drawer can then be fully opened.
