PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus superior in graininess by detecting reproducibility in a dot unit without a transfer process and a fixing process. SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus, an electrostatic latent image is formed on an image carrier and the electrostatic latent image is made into a visualized image by latent image visualizing agent. The apparatus has a detecting means detecting the reproducibility of dots in the apparatus. The fluctuation quantity of dot reproducibility is calculated by converting a patch pattern constituted of the size and period of the regular dots into a brightness signal, a concentration signal or a luminance signal through an electric signal. An image processing method or an image forming process condition is changed from the calculation result. Reproducibility information of the dots is detected by using an electronic image pattern constituted of a dot profile having the prescribed size and period (interval). The concentration, luminance and brightness signals by a scanning-type densitometer or a photo sensor are used as the detection means. |
