PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composite material which can obtain high durability and high shape stability by the reinforcing effect of an nonwoven fabric without damaging high elongation of rubber when used as a reinforcer for a rubber article such as a tire and a belt and the rubber article using the composite material. SOLUTION: In the rubber composite material comprising the nonwoven fabric and rubber for coating the nonwoven fabric, a coat made of a metal or a metal compound which is reactive with sulfur is formed substantially uniformly in the surface direction of the nonwoven fabric, and nonuniformly in the thickness direction on the surfaces of filaments constituting the nonwoven fabric.
