PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material for retaining water in soil, which allows a soil to retain water in an amount 2 to 50 times its own weight and is excellent in the balance between the water retentivity and the water releasability. SOLUTION: The material for retaining water in soil is obtained by curing a composition containing as the essential constituents a hydrophilic epoxy resin (a) having two or more epoxy groups in the molecule and an amine compound (b) having two or more primary or secondary amino groups in the molecule.
