PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manual input device possible to be miniaturized and lightened. SOLUTION: This manual input device is equipped with a sun gear 21, three planet gears 7, a motor 17 wherein a first rotator 43 is fixed to its output shaft 17a, a second case 6 wherein a ring gear 34 is integrally provided on its inner wall, a carrier 5 integrally rotating with the revolving planet gear 7, a carrier shaft 2 integrated with the carrier 5, a knob 1 fixed to the carrier shaft 2, a code plate 18 integrally provided in the first rotator 43 while having plural slits 18a along its circumference, a light emitting part 28, a light receiving part 27, a connector 29 to output a detected signal by the light receiving part 27, a base 26 on which the light emitting part 28, the light receiving part 27 and the connector 29 are provided, a control device 38 to control the motor 17 in response to the detected signal from the light receiving part 27, and an adjusting means 11 to enable adjustment of meshing of the sun gear 21 with the planet gear 7 by rockably supporting the sun gear 21.
